About Us
Pride Squamish is a Nonprofit 2SLGBTQIA+ Registered Society in the Traditional, Ancestral, Unceded Sḵwx̱wú7mesh-ulh Temíx̱w (Squamish Territory).
Pride Squamish would like to acknowledge that as a registered Society we have a Board of Directors, Committee Members, and Volunteers. Pride Squamish would also like to acknowledge that legal structures of non-profit societies are grounded in patriarchal and colonial structures, but we work as a radical collaborative of humans doing this work together as equals. We are committed to our growth as a Society to reflect the progress reflected within our community and decolonizing our practices with each step forward. The titles assigned to our members reflect a promise of available time commitment rather than a hierarchy of power or importance.
Board and Committee members participate in monthly meetings, support community collaborations and efforts, and creating safe spaces year round for our lovely community members to gather, grow and celebrate. Below is a little lit about the current Pride Squamish members volunteering to serve this community.

Kyle is thankful to be a part of such a hard working community of folks making Squamish a safer place for LGBTQ2S+ individuals and allies of all ages. |

Brenda Miller [She/Her] The nuclear family that I helped create has a glorious array of rainbow colours but I am a late bloomer to the Pride community personally speaking. What I lack in wisdom however, I make up for in enthusiasm. Experiencing Pride Squamish has made me feel like I'm finally at home. I'm looking forward to adding a "Proud" inclusive face to the STS medical community and supporting anyone else who has been hesitant to live in their true selves. |

Youth Representative, Pride Squamish has an amazing Youth Representative on our Board that keeps us up to date on the happenings and needs of local youth in our community. This helps us make sure our resources, events, and work stay relevant as future generations continue to grow and change the shape of our community. Change is progress, and we are committed to continuous growth, inclusivity, and decolonizing our practices. |

Gerhardt Troan [He/She/They] My name is Gerhardt (he/she/they), and my heart has lived in Squamish since I first arrived in 2018. In my time here I've been a student of philosophy and queer theory at Quest University, a writer, speaker and performer, but most importantly a human being forever learning what it means to live on and in communion with this Sḵwx̱wú7mesh land, its history, and its people. Squamish is where I first came to know myself as queer, and in working with Pride Squamish I strive to open spaces that allow people to experience themselves as beautiful, powerful, and free, individually and in community with one another. I'm also the person to call if you want to talk about storytelling, top hats, Dungeons and Dragons, the state of the human spirit in a world that goes by too fast, or any of that other nerd stuff. |
