About Us

Pride Squamish is a Nonprofit 2SLGBTQIA+ Registered Society in the Traditional, Ancestral, Unceded Sḵwx̱wú7mesh-ulh Temíx̱w (Squamish Territory).

Pride Squamish would like to acknowledge that as a registered Society we have a Board of Directors, Committee Members, and Volunteers. Pride Squamish would also like to acknowledge that legal structures of non-profit societies are grounded in patriarchal and colonial structures, but we work as a radical collaborative of humans doing this work together as equals. We are committed to our growth as a Society to reflect the progress reflected within our community and decolonizing our practices with each step forward. The titles assigned to our members reflect a promise of available time commitment rather than a hierarchy of power or importance.

Board and Committee members participate in monthly meetings, support community collaborations and efforts, and creating safe spaces year round for our lovely community members to gather, grow and celebrate. Below is a little lit about the current Pride Squamish members volunteering to serve this community.

Board and Committee Members

Trevor Wulff [They/Them]
Co-President,
Board Member

Trevor is a Two-Spirit community member and leader who was born and raised on Sḵwx̱wú7mesh territory. Trevor has been a leader in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Squamish and is a big part of why we are able to do the work we are today. They led the creation of Pride Squamish as a Society and continue to connect incredible people who live here to do and create awesome opportunities and experiences where everyone can feel safe and like they belong.

Kyle Horvath [He/Him]
Co-President,
Board Member

Kyle moved to the unceded traditional territory of Squamish in August 2020 and joined the Pride Squamish Committee a month later. Fast forward to 2022 and he's still wearing the hat. He hopes he will grow into it, but ... he isn't holding his breath. Kyle is thankful to be a part of such a hard working community of folks making Squamish a safer place for LGBTQ2S+ individuals and allies of all ages.

Britt Martell [They/Them]
Co-President,
Board Member

Your average neurodiverse queer/genderqueer human trying to do and be their best. A bush baby from Ontario who feels most at home in nature. Education is in psychology, law and structural social work. Experience in education, research, systems advocacy,  community engagement and getting stuff done. Britt also does clinical work as a social worker in the community. Grateful to be a part of this team, with these humans, in this community.

David Fujimagari [he/him]
Treasurer,
Board Member

Advocate, Parent extraordinaire, and Master of Maths. Every agency needs a numbers person.

Brenda Miller [She/Her]
Board Member

The nuclear family that I helped create has a glorious array of rainbow colours but I am a late bloomer to the Pride community personally speaking. What I lack in wisdom however, I make up for in enthusiasm. Experiencing Pride Squamish has made me feel like I'm finally at home. I'm looking forward to adding a "Proud" inclusive face to the STS medical community and supporting anyone else who has been hesitant to live in their true selves.

CatherineTruemen [She/Her]
Committee Member

Advocate/Ally/Parent Powerhouse and Event Idea Genius. Catherine is also one of the masterminds behind Sea to Sky Allies, an incredible group that works to increase knowledge and power for queer folks and their allies, as well as support individuals and their families. Grateful to have Catherine on our Committee!

Youth Representative,
Committee Member

Pride Squamish has an amazing Youth Representative on our Board that keeps us up to date on the happenings and needs of local youth in our community. This helps us make sure our resources, events, and work stay relevant as future generations continue to grow and change the shape of our community. Change is progress, and we are committed to continuous growth, inclusivity, and decolonizing our practices.

Mel Michener [They/Them]
Committee Member

Mel (they/them) has been visiting and living on the unceded Sḵwx̱wú7mesh territory since 2015. They hope to further the goal of creating intentional community spaces that are safe for all folks. They are passionate about continuous learning and run a book club focused on social justice issues, and they work in research and evaluation which they hope can be helpful in creating feedback systems within Pride Squamish. Find them at Zephyr eating gluten free treats or stopping to admire flowers anytime they get the chance.

Jordana Dallaire-Diaz [She/They]
Volunteer

My name is Jordana. I usually go by Jo or Jolie. I'm a gender-fluid, queer, Pagan, and Hispanic-Canadian. I've lived in several different places and have now lived in the unceded, traditional territory of the Squamish Nation since May 2018. I currently work at the Howe Sound Women's Centre (undergoing rebranding) as a front line support worker and gender diversity inclusion advocate. I'm in the process of doing my MA in counselling psychology with the intention of doing further healing work in the community.

Gerhardt Troan [He/She/They]
Volunteer

My name is Gerhardt (he/she/they), and my heart has lived in Squamish since I first arrived in 2018. In my time here I've been a student of philosophy and queer theory at Quest University, a writer, speaker and performer, but most importantly a human being forever learning what it means to live on and in communion with this Sḵwx̱wú7mesh land, its history, and its people. Squamish is where I first came to know myself as queer, and in working with Pride Squamish I strive to open spaces that allow people to experience themselves as beautiful, powerful, and free, individually and in community with one another. I'm also the person to call if you want to talk about storytelling, top hats, Dungeons and Dragons, the state of the human spirit in a world that goes by too fast, or any of that other nerd stuff.

Ceilidh Smith [She/Her]
Volunteer

I'm originally from Nova Scotia, a proud mama to a wild child, and enjoy being creative and spending time in nature. I'm excited to be joining Pride Squamish as a volunteer!
