About

Pride Squamish is a registered non-profit 2SLGBTQIA+ society in the traditional, ancestral, unceded Sḵwx̱wú7mesh-ulh Temíx̱w (Squamish Territory). 

Established in 2019, Pride Squamish aims to raise awareness, provide education and promote community belonging and well-being amongst the local 2SLGBTQIA+ community and allies. Pride Squamish was a natural evolution from Safe n’ Sound, Squamish’s first 2SLGBTQIA+ non-profit formed in 2014 in response to community needs and support that continues to be asked of us now.

Pride Squamish is comprised of a volunteer Board of Directors who are elected each year at the Annual General Meeting.

Together, we are committed to active reconciliation and creating a sense of belonging for all. We have always been here, and we are not going anywhere.

Vision

Pride Squamish sees a future in Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) where all who live in community can grow up and feel safe, healthy and proud of who they are. Together, we can all thrive and support one another. In this current political climate, it is more important than ever to link arms and show our strength.

Board of Directors 

As of 2026, the Board of Directors has six (6) volunteers working to create and support 2SLGBTQIA+ focused gatherings and community-building efforts. Board members participate in monthly meetings, support community collaborations and efforts, and help to create safe spaces to gather and build community year round.

The Board works collaboratively with community partners and our local 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We are grateful for the beautiful and ongoing support from volunteers, the community and local businesses.

You may see us, as well as other community members, wearing Pride Squamish t-shirts, hats, socks, and hoodies, which is part of our intention to create visibility and connection for us all.

Pride Squamish merchandise is available at select Squamish retailers and events so that everyone can represent and show support for our 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
